About the Art

Tārā is a revered deity in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions, embodying compassion, wisdom, and protection. In Tibetan Buddhism, she is considered a bodhisattva and a female Buddha, often depicted in her green and white forms—Green Tārā symbolizing active compassion and White Tārā representing longevity and healing. In Hinduism, she is one of the Mahāvidyās, embodying fierce wisdom and divine energy. As a savior goddess, Tārā is believed to guide beings across the ocean of existence, offering solace and assistance to those in distress. Her iconography often includes a lotus, signifying purity, and the gesture of fearlessness, reinforcing her role as a protector.
