Aparamitā Tathāgata

Gouache on Cotton Canvas
29 x 40 cm
2025

This Paubha centers on Aparamitā Buddha (Amitāyus), associated with longevity, wisdom, and the continuity of life. Rooted in the living Buddhist traditions of the Nepal Mandala, the work reflects the integration of mantra, ritual, and sacred visualization within Newar monastic practice.

The composition incorporates the sacred mantra “Om Amarani Jivan Tiye Svaha,” the seed syllable “Hrih,” and the Aparamitā Dhāraṇī inscribed in Ranjana script. Scenes of monks striking the Dharmagandi and the depiction of Rudravarṇa Mahāvihāra connect the divine iconography with the ritual life of the Baha tradition.
