About the Art

COVID-19 has affected the entire world and Nepal is no exception. With the increasing losses of life and fear of infection, Nepal has been in lockdown since 24.03.2020. Thousands of police are enforcing the lockdown, at times a little harshly. Lockdown seems to be endlessly extending from weeks to months; with this, our marginalized citizens are struggling to get even basic and essential necessities. Many are returning to their villages ON FOOT, as there are no jobs and their savings are running out. This painting depicts an innocent boy during the pandemic. Yes, he might protect himself from the virus with a mask, but will he be able to protect himself from the enforcement agencies? Stating the reason for his little excursion on a hanging placard, he faces the harsh reality: STAY HOME and stay hungry, or GO OUT and get harassed or possibly contract the virus.
