About the Art

When compared to other ancient architectural styles in Nepal, Newari is one of the few that has remained untouched by the influence of Western styles. The buildings are perfectly proportioned to the needs of the people living there, a three-and-a-half-story figure that soaked up the sun in the open courtyards and breathed in the fresh air of the winding alleys. Brickwork and a particular type of woodcarving that are distinctive to this style are among the things that set it apart. The courtyard of Pujari Ghar in Bhaktapur is depicted here.
