About the Art

Like most of Manandhar’s work, these paintings challenge conventional limits of depiction by embracing abstraction to transmit universal themes of connection, metamorphosis, and contemplation. The fluidity of the composition represents the link between the artist and his medium—an almost transcendental relationship whereby he becomes the painting and the picture becomes him. This harmony of artist and art reflects more general existential concepts of oneness, in which personal experiences vanish into the group flow of life and creativity.

The flow of energy is very difficult to imagine. During meditation, we are asked to visualize our aura flowing throughout the body. But we can’t see these auras; they’re more of a feeling, vibration, or chakra energy that is abstract. How do we visualize and portray such vibrations and energy in art? Manadhar’s artwork on Atma , the soul—connects us with the transcendental nature of our body through a blend of different colors.
