About

Abhijeet Prajapati is a contemporary/visual artist and an Iconographer based in Kathmandu, Nepal. His artistic journey is deeply influenced by his upbringing surrounded by cultural and tantric practices in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. He holds a BFA from Sirjana College of Fine Arts and has engaged in various art projects, including murals, workshops, and exhibitions. Abhijeet's work primarily revolves around themes of tantric spirituality, iconography, and mythology, expressed through mineral pigments, pen & ink, acrylic, and oil mediums. He explores concepts of divine male and female energies, tantra symbols, Devi Shakti, mythical narratives, and traditional patterns. His art reflects a deep connection to cultural heritage and spirituality, serving as a bridge between past traditions and modern interpretations. Abhijeet sees art as a means to explore and comprehend the divine, expressing abstract emotions and fostering connections with nature in a contemporary context.
Statement
As I have grown up in a Newa community of Nepal, from childhood i have been influenced by Sanatana dharma but particularly tantra, (not the tantra seen on western hemisphere). As a child I wanted to know what they were holding in their multiple arms, from there I was interested in iconography and still I am amazed by the finding in my research.
Now here! I am playing with the icons and trying to create a new visual language in my artwork. I want to play with the language of gods therefore playing with “It” I am trying to understand “self”. Evolving into something to believe in the future.
