About the Art

Vajra Kila is the five-pronged ritualistic object that has the depiction of Vajra, the symbol of “thunderbolt” and “diamond”. In one of the “Yana” (Section) of Buddhism, the Vajrayana, Vajra Kila is used in the ritualistic ceremony. The Kila or Phurba is the three-sided peg, stake, or nail-like ritual implement associated with Indo-Tibetan Buddhism, Bōn, as well as Indian Vedic traditions. The Vajra Kila signifies a sense of stability on a prayer ground during any ceremonies. The Kila represents fierce, wrathful, piercing, and affixing energy.
