About the Art

Torana is a traditional carved figure that is kept above a temple's main entrance gate. It is constructed from carved wood, copper, or stone. The beautiful elements of a temple's torana represent the main god and goddess present inside the temple. This is an ancient tradition passed down from generation to generation, and this cultural and artistic practice is dwindling by the day. Our cultural torana is misused and neglected, and it is not well preserved. Looking at these beautiful works of art is heartbreaking. This is why this painting is also divided into sections.
