About the Art

Goddess Bhagawati is the embodiment of Adi Parashakti, the Eternal Limitless Power in Hindu Mythology. She is also associated with Mahashakti, and followers believe that her power is beyond this universe. Bhagawati Mata is the sole active energy that can create as well as dissolve the entire universe. She is depicted having eight hands that wield various weapons such as sword, Gadda, bow, Trishula (trident), Sankha, Chakra, and riding a lion. Her principal hand shows Abhaya Mudra (protection gesture) and the other also holds a lotus flower.
